The Normandy coast, from the Bay of the Somme to Mont-Saint-Michel, has a strong tidal range: over 7–8 m at springs in the Bay of the Seine. At low water, vast sandy flats are exposed : perfect for foraging at Cabourg, Ouistreham or along the Côte de Nacre.

What is the tidal range in Normandy?

At springs the range reaches 7–8 m in the Bay of the Seine, more towards Mont-Saint-Michel. At neaps it drops to around 3 m.

Where to go foraging in Normandy?

Big coefficients (> 90) expose the flats of the Côte de Nacre and the Cotentin. Always check the low-water time and when the tide turns.
