A 4 km causeway linking Noirmoutier to the mainland, passable only around low tide. Covered by 1 to 4 m of water at high tide.

Window set by the tidal coefficient, following the official advice: up to 1 h 30 either side of low tide above 70, 30 min from 50 to 70 (the tourist office says 30 min to 1 h), only close to low tide below 50. Bad weather closes the passage sooner.
Cross early in the window and return before it closes: the tide comes back fast. Follow the times and signs posted on site.
